How the Bible Bookmarks are used

For purposes of explanation we will assume you are a church meeting once a week on Sundays. In truth, the Bible Bookmarks are very flexible and can be used in many ways.

Each Sunday the Sunday School teacher or Children's Church leader will present the children with a new Bible Bookmark which is based on a specific theme. At home, the child will read the passages listed for Monday through Friday based on the theme of that Bible Bookmarks. On Wednesday and Friday, they can answer the questions on the back of the bookmarks.

The following Sunday, they return with their Bible Bookmark complete. The Sunday School teacher can spend a few minutes talking with the children about the theme of the bookmark, or some of the questions on the bookmark. They may even re-read a passage or two with the children. It is very important to spend at least a couple minutes talking about the Bible Bookmark they completed if you expect them to continue to use them. See "Ideas from other churches" for more.

The children are then given the new Bible Bookmark for the upcoming week. It's usually best to make a comment or two about the theme that they will be reading about this week.

Since most churches are use to ordering curriculum based on the school schedule, we offer four 13 week quarters of Bible Bookmarks per year and we have three years before they cycle (156 different Bible Bookmarks.)

We will ship you each quarter a few weeks before the next set begins. You will then have all 13 themes with you and you can take time to prepare additional ideas should you choose. We will also provide you with a suggested order to use the Bible Bookmarks. There will be hundreds of other churches and thousands of other children all reading the same Bible passages as your children. However, they are not dated, and you may want to rearrange the order to fit your needs.

Many churches also provide incentives for children to bring their completed Bible Bookmarks back. You can read about these at Ideas from other churches.

We desire to see children reading their own Bibles. This program was begun because most children's devotionals did not have children reading their own Bible, or if they did it was highly ineffective. It was our desire to have children read based on a theme so that they were seeing what the Bible said about a topic for an entire week. We also wanted it to be simple enough so that they would not become bogged down and quit. Many children read slow, and a whole chapter can be daunting and so most of the scriptures are short and to the point. Other children often read on especially when they are reading parts of a larger story, but the listed verses are usually short enough for children to accomplish.
